Kwikset, a trademark of ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc., part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, has introduced its newest front-door handleset, Caerus. The design fits standard door preparations and installs in under 10 minutes with a single Phillips screwdriver. Multiple finish options are offered to match both classic and contemporary home exteriors. It fits doors up to 1-3/4 inches thick.
Caerus features an oversized backplate, a gently tapered grip and removes the traditional thumb piece entirely. This combination delivers an ergonomic, seamless feel for daily use. At the core is Kwikset’s patented KwikSlide technology — a first-of-its-kind, slide-to-unlock grip that replaces the thumb piece.

After unlocking the deadbolt, a simple slide of the handle with a wrist, elbow or forearm will release the latch and open the door. Caerus streamlines entry for homeowners juggling groceries, children or bulky packages, and eases use for seniors and those with limited hand strength.
As part of the Kwikset Signature Series, Caerus blends dependable protection with consistent performance on every installation. The keyed version incorporates SmartKey Security technology, guarding against advanced break-in methods and letting homeowners re-key the lock in seconds. It has earned a Grade AAA rating from the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) — the highest level for security, durability and finish quality in residential door hardware.
Installation takes under 10 minutes with a single Phillips screwdriver. A fully adjustable throughbolt works with pre-drilled holes from most door systems and removes the need for additional drilling or replacement parts. The oversized backplate still fits doors up to 1-3/4 inches thick.
Caerus is available in both keyed and dummy versions. Finishes include satin nickel, matte black and polished chrome. Each finish has been engineered to resist fingerprints and wear. Satin nickel and matte black versions include Microban antimicrobial protection, inhibiting bacterial growth on surfaces for up to 99.9% cleaner contact points compared to unprotected hardware. Polished chrome brings a high-shine look that works with both traditional and contemporary entryway décor.
