SEOUL — The latest cameras from the South Korean security specialist run on an upgraded version of the company’s IDLA Pro analytics engine. IDIS strengthened its surveillance lineup with the Edge AI Plus Camera series, which the firm says provides more adaptable, cost-effective ways to upgrade existing video systems with AI-powered functions and automated detection. The models can be added to current networks or installed as part of fresh setups, giving users broad deployment flexibility.

The family includes a variety of tools aimed at boosting real-time monitoring and speeding up footage search and playback. Outdoor-ready, vandal-resistant 8MP dome models such as the DC-D6831WRA and bullet cameras like the DC-T6831WRA are already available. A PTZ unit is slated for release in summer 2025.

“Our powerful new Edge AI Plus Camera range delivers all the advantages of an intuitive, easy-to-use interface with functions designed for convenient and more efficient and proactive surveillance operations,” says Jun-Jyung Sung, head of product planning team, IDIS. “Crucially, it strengthens security and mitigates safety risk with affordable system upgrade options, allowing analytics tools to be deployed exactly where they are needed most, to protect priority locations 24/7 with enhanced domain awareness.”

The series leverages on-camera analytics with five new essential functions, including crowd detection, abandoned and removed object detection, fall detection, and violence detection. These capabilities are aimed at delivering faster incident response in a wide range of settings, the company says. Onboard processing means alerts are generated in real time, without constant manual review.

IDLA Pro supplies the upgraded analytics, which IDIS says drives greater operational efficiency for busy security teams. The cameras are built to capture HD-quality video and spot threats even in challenging lighting—bright sun, sharp shadows or night—using infrared illumination, wide dynamic range and a 1/1.8-inch sensor.

Edge AI Plus models come with the new A-Cut function for fast attribute searches, offering automatic image cropping, intuitive metadata search options, and a convenient user interface. Operators can filter results by metadata fields to locate relevant footage in moments. The system can recognize subject details like gender and age, detect glasses, hats, masks or carried accessories such as bags, and distinguish vehicle types—sedans, trucks, buses and motorcycles—and colors.

All analytics run on IDIS’s in-house Deep Learning Engine, helping maintain reliable accuracy. The lineup retains the benefits of the firm’s DirectIP technology, including plug-and-play installation and one-click setup for centralized monitoring, letting organizations deploy units rapidly and avoid per-channel costs. That transparency in licensing helps administrators plan budgets with confidence.

Plus, the cameras offer multi-layer cyber defense through patented protocols that cover mutual device authentication, multi-factor authentication, and secure video capture, storage and transmission. These safeguards are built into every stage of data handling, from initial recording to live streaming.
