Berlin — DoorBird has teamed up with Homematic IP to deliver a secure home protection system that taps into modern cloud platforms. The 3.5.12 edition of the Homematic IP app adds a new cloud-to-cloud integration linking DoorBird video door stations with Homematic IP smart home systems. All data exchanges carry encryption to meet strict security requirements.
DoorBird says homeowners will enjoy greater convenience, stronger protection and immediate communication through the app’s unified interface. Users no longer need separate tools for video, audio and door release; everything works within a single mobile platform.
“As a German manufacturer, quality, data protection and design are a top priority for us, and these are values that we share with Homematic IP,” comments Sascha Keller, CEO of Bird Home Automation GmbH. “By integrating our IP video door stations into the Homematic IP system, we are offering our customers a particularly convenient way to combine security and smart home functionality.”
Installers can connect DoorBird’s IP video door stations to Homematic IP setups. The free Homematic IP app version 3.5.12 is rolling out in phases and will reach all users over the coming weeks. It sets up a protected cloud-to-cloud link between a user’s DoorBird station and their home installation.
When a visitor presses the doorbell, smartphones receive a push alert. Tapping that alert opens a live video display with two-way voice chat. Residents can examine the feed before tapping again to release the lock.
The station works with other Homematic IP modules such as the door lock drive. Dealers have full access to the station’s integrated switching relay, motion detector and doorbell button. The access module on DoorBird devices can be set up as a trigger for custom automations within a Homematic IP system.
This feature runs on any Homematic IP Access Point or Home Control Unit with the free app. All DoorBird D11 and D21 series video door stations are supported.
“The entire communication between Homematic IP and DoorBird is fully encrypted and complies with the latest security standards, thereby preventing information from falling into the wrong hands,” adds Ralph Bertelt, CEO of eQ-3 AG. “The Homematic IP Cloud is also hosted exclusively on servers in Germany and is therefore subject to the highest security standards. In 2024, the VDE [Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies] certified our system in the areas of protocol, IT, and data security for the eighth time in a row.”
Bertelt notes the Homematic IP Cloud runs on German-based servers and carries its eighth consecutive VDE seal for protocol, IT and data protection.
