The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent marked its third year staging an awards program that acknowledges the crucial work of security technicians across the field.
According to a recent release, the initiative celebrates those whose careful system design, expert installation and regular maintenance keep communities safe.
Program organizers note the awards aim to encourage ongoing learning, recognize technical achievements and attract new professionals to the security sector.
“Security technicians take on essential roles at the front line of safety, dedicating their expertise to keep our homes, workplaces and national infrastructure protected,” the foundation stated.
Winners honored as Security Technician of the Year display remarkable leadership and service standards, bringing advanced technical skills and strong ethical standards to every assignment.
This year’s program drew nominations from a broad range of security firms.
The 2025 FAST Security Technician of the Year awardees are:
- Jose Ayala, M.C. Dean
- Ruben Cuevas, Preferred Technologies
- Andrew Kowitt, Grid Squared Systems
- Kenneth Meyers, Convergint Technologies
- Mitch Nelson, Eastern Security Services
- Dikul Patel, Convergint Technologies
- Zach Patterson, Owen Security Solutions
A committee of industry executives reviewed submissions based on technical skill, customer feedback and adherence to quality standards before selecting these seven technicians.
“The 2025 Security Technician of the Year Awards shine a spotlight on the skilled professionals who form the backbone of our industry,” says FAST board of directors chairman John Nemerofsky.
“Too often, technicians work behind the scenes without the recognition they deserve, yet they are the ones who guarantee that the technologies and solutions we deliver actually protect people, property and communities,” he adds. “These men and women don’t just maintain systems; they safeguard lives, protect assets and drive innovation day in and day out.”
“Their expertise, adaptability and problem-solving skills are what keep our clients safe and our industry moving forward. It is an honor for FAST to celebrate their extraordinary contributions, inspire the next generation of talent and reinforce the importance of investing in the growth and development of the security workforce,” Nemerofsky continues.
An initiative created by the Security Industry Association and the Electronic Security Association, FAST will hold the Security Technician of the Year Awards ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. EST on the Bridge Stage during ISC East 2025.
