Security 101, a national commercial security solutions provider and a portfolio company of investment firm Gemspring Capital, has reached 21 strategic acquisitions as it expands its footprint and integration capabilities across the country.
The latest deals include the purchase of JY Security, LLC and Beartooth Corporation, two long-standing franchise partners serving the San Antonio and Minneapolis regions, respectively. These transactions follow the acquisition of Security & Energy Technologies Corporation, a Chantilly, Va.-based systems integrator that focuses on commercial and federal government clients.
JY Security has provided advanced security systems to commercial and healthcare clients across the San Antonio metropolitan area since 2019. This move adds another key Texas market to Security 101’s operations after recent expansions in Dallas and Houston.
Beartooth, launched in Minneapolis in 2020, serves enterprise and federal government clients throughout the Upper Midwest. Both JY Security founder Jeff Ye and Beartooth founder Jake Froiland will remain as general managers under the Security 101 umbrella.
Security & Energy Technologies Corporation, known as SETEC, offers comprehensive design, installation and integration of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and life safety systems since its founding in 1987. The company holds long-term maintenance and service contracts with enterprise and government customers.
Chet Hahne and Mark Morgan founded and led SETEC for decades, guiding the firm through steady growth. Robert Donnelly, a seasoned veteran member of the leadership team, will take on the role of general manager to oversee operations across the Washington, D.C., region.
Greg Daly, CEO of Security 101, said the addition of JY Security and Beartooth “further advances our long-term strategy to unite exceptional regional businesses under the Security 101 brand,” he said. “Jeff and Jake exemplify the leadership and customer dedication that drive our growth nationwide,” he added. “We’re proud to welcome their teams to the corporate organization as we continue building consistency, capability, and scale across the country.”
On SETEC, Daly noted, “their strong reputation, technical expertise and customer relationships in the D.C. corridor align perfectly with our growth strategy and strengthen our ability to serve the federal market.”
Jeff Ye said, “Our success in San Antonio has been built on trust and dependable service.” Ye noted that joining Security 101 allows the local team to maintain its community focus with the backing of a national organization.
Jake Froiland said, “The Minneapolis team is excited to join an organization that values innovation and operational excellence.” He added, “With this partnership, we gain a broader platform to deliver even greater value and expertise to clients across the Midwest.”
Chet Hahne said, “For nearly four decades, SETEC has been built on hard work, integrity, and a commitment to doing what’s right for our customers.” He added, “Joining Security 101 ensures that legacy continues to grow within a national organization that shares our values.”
Robert Donnelly said, “Our dedication to customer service hasn’t changed, but now we have the strength of a national network behind us.” He added, “With Security 101, we’re positioned to take on larger, more complex projects across both commercial and federal markets.”
