RAVE Lighting & Technology has outfitted dozens of BODYROK Pilates studios with dynamic lighting, mood-setting audio systems, integrated security cameras, and network connectivity. The upgrades bring simplified control for instructors, stronger remote oversight, and heightened safety across studio locations. These enhancements allow seamless class management and remote support, and BODYROK managers report smoother daily operations. The combination of adaptive lighting, energizing soundtracks, and discreet surveillance helps deliver a consistent brand experience to clients.
With around 67 facilities across the nation and more under development, BODYROK tapped RAVE for a comprehensive technology overhaul. The fitness company wanted to simplify instructor routines, boost connectivity and tighten security. To meet the timeline, RAVE turned its focus to a uniform design and installation strategy that could repeat at each site.
To keep costs down and maintain quality, RAVE opted for key suppliers offering wide distribution and reliable stock. ADI | Snap One rose to the top because its network of warehouses covers the regions under rollout, and its catalog of integrated products matched RAVE’s specifications. The partnership with ADI | Snap One helped RAVE secure the parts needed for a smooth installation schedule.
RAVE recognized the BODYROK project required a mix of automation gear that would blend into workout spaces and remain user-friendly for staff. Controls needed to look simple, yet handle complex tasks without distracting members or varying from one studio to the next. By standardizing the interface and operation, franchise and corporate locations share identical procedures and styling.
Central to this plan was a single control system. “Thanks to Control4’s range of control options, we were able to implement a solution that met the standardized requirements of the BODYROK franchise and gave us the flexibility to easily conform the tech package to each facility’s own unique structural and design parameters,” said Ryan Charon, chief operating officer, RAVE Lighting & Technology.
The native tie between Control4 and the OvrC remote monitoring platform offered another benefit: real-time oversight from a central location. With about 60 RAVE-managed BODYROK studios live and more on track, remote management cut the need for on-site visits. RAVE technicians can track system health and performance without leaving their headquarters.
“Rolling trucks for system tweaks and troubleshooting to locations throughout the U.S. would have been logistically and financially impossible,” said David Barnett, chief technology officer, RAVE. “Without OvrC, we wouldn’t have been able to take on a project of this scale, let alone make it profitable.”
Through OvrC, RAVE monitors every network device in each BODYROK studio, receives instant alerts if hardware goes offline, and can log in to reboot or reset units. The system’s self-healing function often restores service automatically before a user notices an issue.
On the lighting side, RAVE rolled out its own patented full-spectrum linear fixtures that comply with Control4. Custom color and brightness settings were grouped into three buttons on a single engraved keypad. A simple tap changes room moods instantly, and staff hardly see the hardware behind the ceiling tiles. The setup cuts down wiring and programming time.
“At times, this was pushing the limits of the controller we had originally specified,” Barnett related. “Fortunately, with Control4's expansive product family, we quickly and easily scaled up to the CORE 1 when necessary.”
One button labeled “Class” activates a timed color sequence on ceiling-mounted linear fixtures that mirrors warm-up, main workout and cooldown segments. Tapping “Celebrate” at the end of each session wraps participants in a celebratory glow to boost team spirit.
Music plays a critical role in BODYROK’s modern, high-energy identity. During early installations, RAVE staff noticed participants clustering at the back of rooms to avoid speaker blasts yet still hear instructors. “During one of our visits to a studio, we noticed members rushed to nab reformers in the back of the room so they weren’t blasted with the speakers in the front, where it was difficult to make out the instructor’s voice,” Charon said. “We realized that we could definitely improve the speaker design and placement. The collaborative process with BODYROK corporate leadership has led to an industry leading result that is consistently applied across all locations.”
Network performance proved crucial in varied venues. RAVE chose Araknis hardware from ADI | Snap One for its professional-grade, OvrC-enabled switches, routers and access points. These components handled interference from metal walls and nearby wireless noise and allow remote tweaks without site visits. “Pound for pound, it’s the best network on the market,” Barnett said. “Often, BODYROK studios are located in noisy commercial areas with a lot of interference to overcome; the metal walls and equipment can impede Wi-Fi performance, so we went with a rack mounted router and POE Switch with multiple access points that offers remote management with OvrC — and so far have experienced no problems.”
To cover safety and loss prevention, RAVE installed AI-filtered Luma cameras and NVRs from ADI | Snap One. Managers can view live or recorded feeds through the Luma View Video Management System or mobile app. The cameras blend into the studio design and monitor workout areas and locker rooms without disrupting clients.
BODYROK leadership reports the integrated tech stack has lifted the studio atmosphere by combining adaptive lighting, energizing audio and intuitive touch controls. The success shows in faster rollouts and easily scaled systems, in the energized mood of each session and in the countless selfies shot in front of BODYROK’s color-shifting mirror lights. Those scenes have exploded on social media, demonstrating how thoughtful lighting design can elevate workouts and brand exposure.
